Shonni Enelow is a critic and scholar who writes about film and theater. She is the author of Joanna Hogg (Contemporary Film Directors series, University of Illinois Press, 2024) and Method Acting and Its Discontents: On American Psycho-Drama (Northwestern University Press, 2015). She won the George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism in 2015, the Modern Drama Prize in 2019, and received an honorable mention for outstanding article of year from ATHE in 2020. Her book with David Levine, A Discourse on Method, was published by 53rd State Press in 2020, and her book with Una Chaudhuri, The Ecocide Project, was published by Palgrave in 2013. Her film writing has appeared in Reverse Shot, Criterion, Film Comment, and MUBI Notebook, among other venues, and her theater criticism has appeared in Theatre Topics, Theater, Theatre Survey, and Modern Drama. She is Professor of English at Fordham University.
